Rules for... STAR TREK - The Next Drinking Game. The "Star Trek Drinking Game" was originally devised to honor the "Star Trek" television series by toasting those wonderful moments that made the series truly memorable. Although it is much younger than the original series, "Star Trek: The Next Generation" is already proving to be a rich source of memorable moments that deserve to be similarly honored. To pay homage to the series, it is first necessary to gather several friends; after all, drinking alone is no fun at all. Four to twelve people is a good number. Next, ensure that you have an ample supply of your favorite liquid refreshments on hand. Pour out glasses for everybody, gather around your electronic hearth at the appointed hour (or anytime you want if you remembered to videotape last week's episode) and enjoy the show. TAKE A DRINK WHENEVER... ...you hear "Captain's Log..." ; Twice if it's a supplemental, or if the log entry is by someone OTHER than Picard. Three drinks if it's not even a crew member (e.g. "Q") ...a credit appears on screen AFTER you think the show is already well under way (i.e. after the first commercial break and lots of dialogue has gone by) ...Picard refers to Wes as "the boy" ...You see a male in a miniskirt ...You hear an 'old' Enterprise noise (red alert klaxon, bosun's whistle) ...Anyone mentions a rape gang ...The film is sped up to show Data operating at his faster android speed ...Data makes use of his superhuman strength (two drinks if he's obviously throwing styrofoam rocks/machinery/whatever around) ...you see a blatant ripoff from the old series (If the whole episode is a blatant ripoff [e.g. Naked Now] take 3 drinks. Same goes if the trailer for next week's episode makes it apparent that the whole episode will be a ripoff) ...Troi names an emotion. ...Troi obviously catches herself about to name an emotion (cf "Where No One Has Gone Before": "it's just like........ it's wonderful, sir!") ...Wes says, "Gee!" "Gosh!" or "Wow!" ...Data or Worf asks for a word definition. ...Data corrects someone on his grammar. ...Picard leaves the bridge during a crisis to visit Dr. Crusher. ...LaForge says he wants normal eyes. ...Wesley gets the impish grin on his face. ...Wesley creates some wonderful science project. ...The camera pans >90 degrees to show how *big* the ship is. ...Wes saves the ship. Twice if nobody thanks him. ...LaForge is used as a "human tricorder". ...Riker acts like Kirk. ...Worf spoils for a fight. ...Picard tries to surrender the Enterprise (usually within the first five minutes of the episode) ...Picard defends the honor of France. ...Somebody quotes Shakespeare. Two drinks if it's Picard. ...Data catches himself giving a long-winded lecture at an inopportune time ...Someone shuts Data up for giving a long-winded lecture at an inopportune time ...Data learns a new colloquialism ...Data affects a particular human mannerism (e.g. "Sherlock Data") ...Tasha decks someone (Two drinks if it's male. Three if it's in response to some sexist outburst) ...anybody says 'Energize' or 'Engage' ...Anyone addresses the Captain as "Jean" or "Jean-Luc" ...The Big E is taken over by some superior alien power (Some things NEVER change!) ...You see a poorly fought fight. ...Picard talks about death to Dr. Crusher. ...Their weapons become powerless. ...Drink every time anyone does (Yes, lemonade counts) ...Every time a time deadline is met, or not met for that matter. ...whenever someone gets preachy ...When Riker is called Number One ...When Riker strikes the beaming pose -----------------------------------------------------------------------
